 » Finally... RSS! [10-05-05 @ 21:23]

Not like everyone wanted it, but i´ve got the news flowing through an RSS feed now ;)

Some updates, JB and Roy are back from their vacations in iraq (mmm 130 degrees).  We´re still going to be doing some work on the CQB place, and its a posibility that the facility will indeed be ran by an airsoft retailer (there would be staff / retail site, etc) so thats kinda exciting.  Anywho, in the mean time we´ll need to do some work on the field and finalize that list for the SWAT training.  Hopefully after we get pics of the bus and the completed facility, we´ll get the stuff up on arnies.

 » Update on the CQB Place [09-24-05 @ 11:43]

So far we have a good idea of the floorplan we´re going for at the shoot house (cqb place in kettering).  We (Jebus, Huey, and myself) picked up 100 (well 96 actually, dont ask) 2x4´s and framed the perimiter of the house.  I´ll get some more pics of that up soon.  Now that we have the structure standing, we´ll have to go snap some lines down and bolt the wall sections into the concrete after we square it all up.

A new game should be coming around shortly, i´m guessing mid october.  Also the swat training is coming up soon, please help get the word out for that as it will help people a ton and prepare them for the exhibition style games we´ll be having this winter.

On that note, we´re discussing doing a joint event, hosting CM III here.  I think our goals and the location should be very condusive of such an event so its quite likely to go through without a problem.  It would likely be a 2 day event with raffle and prizes.

For those of you who dont know, there is a new addition to the shoot house coming soon, Jeff will be moving a full size "functional" school bus (only thing wrong with it is lack of transmission).  So, any scenarios you can think of involving a schoolbus, please feel free to post them in the forum :)

Last note, we´re also looking for team banners to hang along the scaffolding.  I feel that it will give a profesional feel to the place, and at least spruce up the otherwise industrial look.  The fake storefronts will need signs from combatdepot, airsoft arms, etc, however it looks like we are already covered as far those go.

Heres the floorplan we´re looking at, for future reference.  The measurements of the workout area, bay doors, and the initial house are exact, the outer perimiter of the second building (office / school) is exact, however the placement is a somewhat rough guestimate, and the fake storefronts havent been constructed yet.  Any comments are welcome oh and yes, we will probably be slimming the hallway of the second building, its pretty huge as of now.

 » 8-27 AAR´s [08-29-05 @ 12:14]
well this game went pretty good, we learned some things and noticed some things that will definitally change the way we do our next event.  Overall we definitally acheived our goal of providing a more realistic simulation oriented event rather than a paintball team vs team event.  Many more details will be in mine and hueys AAR

 » 86th CQB game 8-27 [08-23-05 @ 12:38]

Ok I´m hosting a game on saturday the 27th.  Anyone that wants to help organize, play as opfor, or watch, give me a call  I currently need people to help film, I need ANY AV equipment you have, the more the better.  Also I need radios, and some other stuff, just give me a call if you want to help in any way.  Pretty soon we´ll be doing this regularly and will need some regular volunteers.  Game details are here followed by the thread on ao.

For those of you who dont know, we extended an invitation to Huey to join the 86th since he´s played with us before and been a great player as well as an overal nice guy to have around.  His info is on the profile page, which btw has been updated QUITE a bit.  So go check out Hueys profile and if you want to get your profile up to date, let me know so i can set you up with the login to the admin page.

 » Results from Op: Revolution [11-28-04 @ 22:48]

It was a pleasure to see a few of the northern crew come stir the shit up with the Dayton boys.  Thanks for everyone coming out and giving it your best too.  It looks like we´ll have a pretty solid impact on the scenario for the future ops, which is something to brag about.  Make sure to reference the Airsoftohio.com forums for updates as well as our own forums.

Let´s do it again soon, and don´t forget the beer for after the game! 8-)

 » Game, nov 20th [10-15-04 @ 21:08]

We need a head count for people going to operation revolution, frank tells me this is the prequel to the next big game, the sequel to blind fury 2, so consider this blind fury 1.5.  Now I know you guys havent been to the field since the immense work done to it so i suggest we all take this opportunity to play at an awesome field.  Not only an awesome field but an expertly mapped field, a local field, and with great props for ONLY $15.  Franks personally asked that we attend and lately our team appearances havent been what they used to be (i´m not pointing fingers here ;) everyone gets busy now and then).  So what I need is a yay or nay for everyone showing up, so far we have me in, aim me or email me.  BTW, there will be alot of people there for those who wondered.

 » lotsa stuff [08-25-04 @ 10:29]

Hey guys, we´ve been discussing at length some of the new things we´d like to see done over the winter and come into play for the new season of ´05, specifically team standards.  I´ll get a forum installed here soon to discuss this and other issues but everyone seems to be onboard so far, Matt (or someone else) will be getting an approved list online, expect to see things like:
    - new BDU (probably going to be a flight suit),
    - knee / elbow pads,
    - helmet (protec classic painted OD),
    - standard radio (more info about this soon, dont freak out)
    - standard boom mic
    - boots (black boots, whatever type / make is your decision)

Some other things we are thinking about is making it a requirement for everyone to have at least one AR15 variant AEG for mag sharing purposes (we´ll also be taping our mags w/ colors to specify bb weight).  So far the only people that dont have AR15 variants are Juan and Joey (I think) we´ll work something out.

Also me and josh got engaged!!!.... no not to eachother, and yes we got engaged to women ... sickos

 » Register for OP:Mayday ASAP [03-17-04 @ 17:18]
Everyone, this is important. We need to get a FIRM list of who is DEFINETLY going to EAG: Mayday on May 1st (for work scheduling purposes, request April 30th through May 2nd off, for travel and game times). Roy and I would like to have a warm up game on Friday at 10:00AM, to get everyone ready. From there we will jump right into the cars and head to directly to PA to register and get settled in to the hotel. Matt, a contact roster would be a big help here, if you could scrounge one together for me. Alex, I will get in touch with you soon with details. Anyone else, if you are interested, please send me an e-mail at JBWALT420@aol.com and I can send you more info. We have approximately 30 days to get our registration fees in, or else anyone who has not paid will lose thier spot to someone whos got the cash. REMEMBER: The registration deadline is 2 weeks PRIOR to the game date, not the day of. So, that being said, hurry up, get the time off work, and get your money sent in to Graham as soon as you can (before April 16th, which is the deadline, no exceptions). Any questions, contact myself, roy, or matt. Thanks guys.
- JB

 » EAG Updates [03-08-04 @ 13:46]
To piggyback on JBs update, Ill be posting the email Graham sent me for all to view in the Events section. Make sure you contact myself and JB so we have a headcount of whos going.

 » EAG Presents OP: MAYDAY [02-25-04 @ 18:23]
Ok guys, listen up. EAG is holding another kick ass combat simulation event this year. The best part? The registration is only 25 bucks, and we can bring our own ammo this time around. The fee includes the 8 hour Simulation on Saturday, open play that night, and all day play on Sunday, as late as we want (plus a raffle ticket and all that good stuff). Myself and Roy have already registered, I suggest you do the same. The event will be held three different times this year, one in May, July, and September. Go to EAGHQ.com for more info and to register. For only 25 bucks plus ammo costs and the hotel, this is hard to pass up...

 » Updates [12-04-03 @ 24:19]
       OK you impatient bastards! (jk)

Ive got that film footage on my computer and in the editing stages, so maybe, just maybe by this weekend, Ill have it online. Im still waiting for some other footage to show up in my inbox (wink wink, nudge nudge).

Also, Ill have some pictures from the games from 8 Sep (same date as the video) as well as some older pictures from OP: Pegasus II... I think... Anyway, keep that in mind.

Also, 86th members, check your inboxes for an email from me regarding a proposed plan of attack for next spring so we can all have off work and play airsoft bi-weekly like we used to.

Peace.

 » Finally.....an Update! [09-11-03 @ 23:14]
Wow, its been quite a while since anyone has posted news, info, updates, etc. on our site, and even though work has kept me somewhat out of the loop on the airsoft scene, I thought it might be a good idea to write SOMTHING. So, as far as fresh products are concerned, I happened to run across some very nice looking metal bodies for the M16 series from G&G Armament.

They are supposedly very lightweight but strong, thanks to what *appears* to be a magnesium casing. Also, here is one feature that I thought was very cool: the special ¨reciever action package¨ comes with a new forward assist button, bolt, and metal hop-up unit. What does this mean for us? A metal body with a TRUE functional dust cover and bolt. This is somthing we have needed for a long time, as the other metal bodies either dont have the mechanism to flip the dust cover open, or eliminate the mock bolt altogether (which looks rather ugly when the bolt cover is open and also allows dirt to directly enter the gearbox area....obviously, that is bad).

Check them out over at WGC. There are six different types to choose from, and they are only $10 more than the popoular HurricanE metal bodies. I think these could be a very good investment, but as always with a new product, let some other people be the experimental guinea pigs before you buy one ^_^

 » Updates [07-24-03 @ 11:21]
       Hola 86th,

Its been a week since Ive been back from Field Training down at Tyndall AFB and I can say it feels good to be back!!

While our website is not showing much activity at the moment, there is still alot going on. Allen has been very busy lately, but will eventually finish the website. We are planning on archiving all this crap below and also setting up the member profiles section to be edited by 86th members and not by us.

Also, head over to www.AirsoftEvents.com and sign up there so you can register for various airsoft events. Its good to see a place we can register again.

Check your inboxes for further updates. PEACE

 » Pictures Posted [04-25-03 @ 17:58]

 » OP: FB2 Pics, Tutorial, and Site Updates [04-01-03 @ 09:14]
Great job for those of you who attended FB2 Re-Run!!  We did awesome as a squad and I commend you for that.  Thanks to Chris and JB for staying up afterwards too.

There is a thread on Airsoftohio.com about the event.  For those of you who went, please click here to leave some feedback and see what others have said about it.

I will be posting all TEN pics, yes thats right, TEN pics, that I managed to take in combat.  Theres only a few decent pics, but hey, its an update.

Also, there has been a reoccuring problem lately with the solderless connectors that attach to the motor in the M16 series of our guns coming loose.  To save myself the time to have to fix everyones M16 series, I am going to post a simple tutorial on how to ammend the problem since it requires minimal technical ability and only about 5 to 10 minutes of work time, if even that.

Allen has been backed up with this sites updates because of the new COMBAT DEPOT website he has been working on for Francois Crepeaus new business.  The site looks great Allen and good luck Francois!!

Keep checking in for more updates!!

 » New Fields [03-06-03 @ 23:17]
-We need some new people to step up and offer fields to play on in NW Ohio and Central Ohio for private 86th games. All 86th members: please try to find new areas to play and also make efforts to use the fields we have been using in the past. Also try to make more of an effort to make it to travel games. The 86th is definitely a stand-out team of Ohio and we need to stay like that.

 » FB2 Cancelled [02-21-03 @ 12:19]
Well, looks like Operation: Frostebite II has been cancelled. No explaination has been given for the sudden cancellation, but we can only assume it has to do with the massive double weather front that is supposed to drop anywhere from 2¨-12¨ of snow in the area. Its been tentativley rescheduled for two weeks from now. Be ready!
- JB

 » Member Profiles [02-03-03 @ 18:21]
ok, got a finalized sample of a member profile up and running here, the automated system should come soon.  » Operation Frostbite II [01-20-03 @ 14:24]
Distorted Axis has just sent me a conformation letter saying that Operation Frostbite II is scheduled for Feb. 22 at Fran Bar Park. The best part of this event is that it´s FREE! Thats right, the season opener at Fran Bar Park is an FFA (free for all) event, so just bring your guns, gear, ammo, and good attitudes to start the year off on a great note.

Some of the scenarios that we will be playing that day consist of: VIP Escort • Hostage Rescue • Find The Snipers • Basic Attack/Defend • Defuse The Bomb • Down Pilot • Speedball • Find The Black Box • And More…. All of these scenarios are going to be kept fast paced and simple, to allow as much actual playing time as possible.

The games will start at 10:00am and go all the way till dark- dont miss this ¨kickoff¨ to a great season! More information as well as the sign up roster can be found over at http://www.airsoftohio.com, so be sure and register today! Remember, this is FREE, so there is no excuse not to go and take advantage of this offer! See you all on the field!

*Update* Unfortunatly, that e-mail from Distorted Axis was rather misleading. The same field fee of $15 still applies for all partcipants. The term ¨free for all¨ was used to describe the style of the games- meaning no set scenarios (chaos, perhaps?). Sorry about the confusion, everyone. I hope that the $15 fee doesn´t discourage any of you from going.
- JB

 » Mission/History and Roster [01-16-03 @ 15:03]
The 86th Mission and History are now online as well as the Combat Missions 2 roster (under ´Events´).
- Matt

 » archives [01-15-03 @ 21:46]
well pretty soon i´ll have a way to archive the old news articles so this page isnt so huge, but right now i have a math test to get to in 5 minutes. Expect the archive to work later tonight. And i´ll be adding content to the events section (about combat missions)
- Al

 » Mission Statement [01-15-03 @ 19:40]
Well, things are still rolling quite fast behind the scenes here at 86th.org. Allen has been continuously doing the behind-the-scenes work to get the various pages up and running, and Matt is almost finished with a three page history of our team, followed by our Mission Statement. Don´t worry, even though things look static, we´re movin´ along. And now, with me being granted the power of god as a moderator (ok, so power of god is a stretch;-), I´ll try to have regular updates on a weekly basis, if not daily. More to follow, we´ll keep you posted. Look for the Mission Statement within a day or two.

 » News Updates [12-05-02 @ 21:32]
       86th,

Aaahhh... finally getting back into the swing of things as the first quarter of the ´02-03 year comes to an end. I´ve been scouring lots of different news sites and have a ton of really kick-ass information on new weapons and reviews. I´ll probably be making a large post on what I´ve been seeing and then try to stay regular on the updates since I usually start my morning off by checking the airsoft news pages.

Like Allen said, go to Airsoftohio.com, log in, and please take part in our discussions.

It´s great to see alot of you contributing to the success of the team!! Keep it up!!
- Matt

 » AO forum [12-02-02 @ 15:20]
Everyone may want to go check out the private section for the 86th on airsoftohio since were having a little discussion on team matters there. Just a heads up, as far as the site goes, more work should be done soon now that im off school for a month.
- Al

 » CBC Airsoft Documentary [09-18-02 @ 13:07]
An interesting newscast has been made available at PlanetAirsoft.net from Canadian Broadcasting Channel, or CBC on airsoft in Canada. I think its worth the 42 meg download (7min movie clip) to see what´s going on with our neighbors up North.
- Matt

 » Claymore Airsoft Mine!! [09-10-02 @ 03:09]
       Check this out!!

http://www.cioffusa.org/advtac/

Right now, this is a spring loaded, functioning Claymore Airsoft Mine that should be safe for AO.com skirmishing, which means is definatley going to be safe for us!  The unit is reusable and kindof pricy, but since, as I just said, its reusable, it should be a TON of fun to play with.

There´s also a discussion going on about this item at the linked discussion below:
